The Home Depot Center is a 125-acre development in Carson, California, featuring state-of-the-art stadiums and facilities for soccer, tennis, track & field, cycling, lacrosse, rugby, volleyball, baseball, softball, basketball and other sports. Designated as an "Official U.S. Olympic Training Site," The Home Depot Center is the nation's most complete training facility for Olympic, amateur and professional athletes. Created around a 27,000-seat soccer stadium, 8,000-seat tennis stadium, 10,000-seat track & field facility and a 2,450-seat indoor velodrome -The ADT Event Center - the complex is located on the campus of California State University, Dominguez Hills. The Home Depot Center is home to three professional sports teams - Major League Soccer's Los Angeles Galaxy and Chivas USA, and Major League Lacrosse's (MLL) Los Angeles Riptide. In addition, the site is the U.S. Soccer Federation's (USSF) national team training headquarters. The development is also designated as an official training site for USA Cycling and USA Track & Field. The David Beckham Academy for youth soccer and the nationally recognized Athletes' Performance training center for elite and professional athletes are all based at The Home Depot Center. Developed and operated by AEG, the $150 million Home Depot Center represents the largest investment ever made in amateur athletics. Whether competing or training, athletes have the use of world-class amenities including a 3,000-square foot weight room, training and locker room facilities, as well as hospitality services. Tennis at The Home Depot CenterWith more than 30 tennis courts (hard and clay) for training at The Home Depot Center, the 8,000-seat tennis stadium serves as tennis' crown jewel at the multi-sport facility. The Home Depot Center is home to the United States Tennis Association's (USTA) west coast player development operation - the USTA High Performance Training Center. The USTA annually welcomes hundreds of players in training and competition as they prepare for professional play. The goal of USTA's player development program is to provide American junior, collegiate and young professional players with the opportunities to reach their maximum potential. This goal is facilitated through enhanced coaching education and sport science programs, high performance coaching in men's and women's tennis and support and promotion of junior competition and collegiate programs. Player Development works with the USTA Pro Circuit, the world's largest professional tour for tennis development, which provides the next generation of American champions with the opportunity to play against world-class competition without having to travel abroad. The Home Depot Center hosted recent USTA Challenger Pro Circuit men's and women's tournaments last year, in partnership with the USTA, the Southern California Tennis Association (SCTA), Countrywide Classic and AEG. In addition to the L.A. Women's Tennis Championships presented by Herbalife, The Home Depot Center is host to other international tennis competitions each year. In 2005, The Home Depot Center was host to Davis Cup tennis (USA vs. Croatia). And, in conjunction with the USTA and the Southern California Tennis Association (SCTA), The Home Depot Center hosts the USTA International Spring Championships, the USTA Challenger and the USTA Jr. Team Tennis Spring Section Championships. The Home Depot Center is also home to Agassi's Safe Passage All-Stars, a youth tennis and scholastic program for at-risk youth. Modeled after Andre Agassi's Boys & Girls Club in Las Vegas, Nevada, the All-Stars program serves 15 to 20 hand-picked students each year. The mission of the All-Stars program, developed in conjunction with AEG, The Home Depot Center and the Los Angeles Junior Chamber of Commerce (LAJCC), is to provide locally-based student athletes with advanced educational curriculum, as well as advanced tennis instruction to help students reach greater levels of academic and athletic achievement. |
The Home Depot Center & The CommunityThe Home Depot Center's commitment to athletics and training also extends to the surrounding communities. Tennis courts, soccer training fields and a three-mile jogging trail with twelve fitness stations around the perimeter of the development is available to local residents as well as other facilities and amenities. Through foundations established by AEG-operated entities such as the Galaxy, the Los Angeles Kings (NHL) and STAPLES Center, more than $5 million has been pledged to community organizations in the last seven years, including new donations targeting the local Carson community established by The Home Depot Center Charitable Foundation.
